At the Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village, our mission is to cultivate leadership capacity. We firmly believe that investing in young people is the key to creating compelling and lasting change in our community.
To both give youth a voice in their world and transform Flint into a just and equitable city, we nurture leadership skills and inspire students to be active, informed, and relentless agents for their success through our programs and services, which reach 300 students per day or over 6,000 families per year through more than 7 after-school programs. SBEV provides over 530 extra contact hours per year to at-risk youth, which is equivalent to 75 extra school days or 2.5 additional months of instruction per year!
