We offer free year-round programming to youth ages 5-17 in the Chicago, IL area. Our programs in Academics, Athletics, and the Arts are taught by local professionals who dedicate their time to reinvesting their skills and knowledge and giving back to the young people. THE ARTS . Within our Arts track youth are encouraged to express their creativity and discover themselves through various art forms such as Fine Arts, Music, Performing Arts, and Media. Art is known to increase self-worth and self-understanding within youth. Fine Arts SBEV offers several different art-related programs which showcase many different styles and mediums: ACRYLIC PAINT | GOUACHE PAINT | GRAPHITE | WATERCOLOR PAINT | OIL PAINT | CERAMICS | OIL PASTELS | MARKERS | COLORED PENCILS | SCULPTING | CHARCOAL Media News Movement teaches the youth of Flint various journalistic skills: WRITING | RESEARCH | INTERVIEWING | PHOTOGRAPHY | GRAPHIC DESIGN | VIDEOGRAPHY | BROADCAST JOURNALISM | MARKETING | BRAND BUILDING | 3D ANIMATION | SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMEN T Performing Arts Tapology is led by the world-famous, Alfred Bruce Bradley . Students that participate in this program will be taught how to tap dance from the very basics to advanced levels of the art. Theatre is in program partnership with the University of Michigan- Flint and the Flint Repertory Theater for SBEV students to engage in unique theatre workshops. THE ATHLETICS . SBEV Athletics is the premier athletic program in the greater Flint area! ​ Our mission is to provide quality sports programs for student-athletes backed by a professional administration and supported by passionate and qualified coaches who want to see players succeed both in athletics and in life. Our programs are provided at a low cost and scholarship & equipment assistance are available to those in need. At SBEV Athletics we believe every child deserves the chance to play and the opportunity to dream. Basketball SBEV Basketball is a competitive youth basketball program designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport of basketball to both boys & girls. While on the court, student-athletes will learn the game, become physically fit, and develop a strong work ethic and personal discipline. Players will also learn how to become leaders and team players while building self-confidence and emotional management. Competitive play will encourage players to be inspired, passionate, and goal-oriented for both themselves and their teammates. Our Program partner includes: JR. PISTONS | NEXT LEVEL EXPERIENCE Football The Game of Football is more than a game, it’s an experience. Football is a great tool for young student-athletes to develop an equation for success in life. The game teaches important life skills such as hard work, dedication, discipline, teamwork, diversity, and goal setting. Swimming Swim season is closed until next Summer Martial Arts SBEV Martial Arts program is a competitive youth program designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport of martial arts to both boys & girls.During daily practice, students will further develop comprehension, become physically fit, and develop a strong work ethic and personal discipline. Players will also learn how to become leaders and team players while building self-confidence and learning emotional management. Skateboarding SBEV's skateboarding program is designed to teach the fundamentals of skateboarding. Through this program students also gain coordination, comprehension, and patience. Students learn that you don't fail as long as you keep trying. VILLAGE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES . SBEV offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for college students, individuals, and groups as part of the Village Volunteers program. Work behind the scenes or hands-on in positions ranging from a afterschool programs or one time events/projects tag-teaming alongside employees or with one of our many partner organizations. Opportunities are available at both Flint and Chicago locations. Some positions are specialized and require particular talents, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as a background check. Other positions only require a desire and willingness to volunteer. Individuals under the age of 18 must have written consent of the parent or legal guardian before they may volunteer. ​ ​ Afterschool Programs SBEV offers over 20+ programs every session and we need your help!
